what do you (american) people think of this? www.reopen911.org I am not an american but it alarms me.?

I have seen a movie on this site too, it takes about an hour and a half and this one has dutch subtitles. (cant find the original one without the subtitles because it was sent to me by a friend) http://streaming.reopen911.org/video/PainfulDeceptions_dutch.html
for the record, i dont believe the full 100% of the accusations being made, but it does prove that there are a lot of fishy things going on here.

I think a lot of people who are calling these conspiracy "theories" aren’t even watching them or taking into account that a lot of what they say can’t be explained away. When there’s proof, it’s no longer a theory. They should try actually take the time to watch one of these and then form an opinion. Try www.loosechange911.com for another video. They also have it streaming on google. You can also try prisonplanet.com. It wasn’t Osama. It’s a plot to keep us in fear, so that they can do whatever they want, like invading Iraq. Just like the newest airplane crap. If all the liquids brought onto planes can be so dangerous, why are they dumping them all into one big bin together at the security lines where anyone could throw a match in?

How did immigrants retain their culture, yet blend into american society in the 1800’s?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under american society | 3 Comments »

i have searched just about everywhere i can and i haven’t gotten any information. all the information is on certain races of immigrants, and ellis island. can someone please tell me how they retained their culture, yet blended into american society?

They all learned and adapted to the customs and ways of American society. Meanwhile, retaining their own personal heritage behind closed doors…. it was behind these closed doors they spoke in the native language (never to be heard in public because to do so would be disrespectful to the country that welcomed them in). All these Nationalities, not unlike the American Indian, began speaking to their children of their homelands and ancestors.

How do I get a job in an American Embassy?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under american embassy | 3 Comments »

There are a few countries that I would love to live in, I can speak the language(s) but I don’t want to sacrifice my big, fat American paycheck. So I figured an embassy or consulate-type job would be perfect. Work for America, at an American wage, in a foreign country. Obviously, my mental picture of the reality of this kind of situation is horribly uninformed. I’m talking Eastern Europe, preferably the Baltic. What kind of positions could I get and what kind of experience and education would I need? How would I apply?
    Thank you in advance!

If you are a US citizen, you essentially have two choices, but only one sounds suitable for your high yield goals:

Get a job through the US Department of State or one of the represented agencies (the pay is higher), or go to the country in which you are interested in working, arrange for your own residence/work permit, and then apply for a local hire position (which generally pays little more than prevailing local wages).

See the US Department of State website (http://www.careers.state.gov/) and/or research each US foreign mission location you are interested in on their Department of State websites for further information.

Which CPR classes are better, the ones from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under american association | 4 Comments »

I’m a nursing student and I need CPR certification. I don’t know which classes are better, the ones from the Red Cross or the ones from the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association seems to be cheaper, but I don’t know if they provide the textbooks or if you have to buy them, b/c it says it’s only $35.00, and the red cross classes are like $60.00. I would appreciate your help in this regard. thanks!

It all depends on the area or potential employer. The big 3 AHA, American Red Cross and the American Safety and Health Institute all use the same set of standards which are developed jointly. The standards are set by the ECC or Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee. On this committee all 3 organizations are represented. But to answer your question, in general AHA is the most widely recognized and accepted by Health care facilities.

What American shows do they air in the United Kingdom?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under american air | 6 Comments »

I live in America and I’m writing a story about a boy from UK. I need to know all the American shows (such as Jimmy Neutron and Ghost Hunters) that also air in the United Kingdom.

We have LOADS. We also have channels dedicated to American TV like Comedy Central for example.

    Comedy/Sitcoms:
    Scrubs
    Friends
    My Name is Earl
    The Simpson’s
    Family Guy
    Malcolm in the Middle
    Two and a Half Men
    Frasier
    Big bang Theory
    Ugly Betty
    Sex and The City

    Cartoons:
    SpoogeBob Square Pants
    Futurarma
    South Park
(There are loads more, I just can’t think of anymore. plus some of them are dubed from American to British accents).

    Drama:
    House
    Lost
    24
    Bones
    CSI Miami/New York
    Dexter
    Pushing Daises
    Prison Break

To be honest it would be quicker to say we have 99% of American TV. We have Opera on one channel (now why would the British need to see that) we also have american news channels eg. FOX News. And I bet in America you only get a few of our programmes. Weird.

Even though I quite enjoy some of your programmes.

What is your favorite american league and national league team?

I’m curious to know who is answering all of these questions. Just say yer favorite team, one national league one american league.

    Mine:
    American: Yankees
    National: Dodgers
I’m not asking who will win, I’m asking who is your favorite team.
everyone seems to either like the yankees, red sox, or cubs

    National: take a guess
    American: Oakland Athletics

What is a good book that helps explain our American history easily and in a way teens can understand?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under american history | 2 Comments »

I want to find a book that is an easy way to learn about American history. I want to be able to learn about the important events that happened in our history.

The best book ever written on US history is "People’s History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. I read it back in high school, and it made me want to be a historian.

What’s great about it it that it’s a bottom-up history of the US, told from the point of view of ordinary people: the native Americans, workers, immigrants, rather than all Presidents all the time.
